MARGARET BACKSTER, IMPRISONED UNTIL DEATH, OR PUT TO DEATH IN PRISON, IN ENGLAND, IN THE YEAR 1430

According to old chronicles, about the year 1430, a God-fearing woman named Margaret Backster was arrested in England for the truth of the Gospel of Christ; and since she would not apostatize, it seems she was imprisoned until death, or put to death in prison. Though this has remained partly hidden from men, God will make it known in that last, great and terrible day; so that those who have secretly suffered for the name of Christ will then be openly rewarded and crowned, and those who have secretly shed the blood of the saints will be banished with open shame from the face of God, to be tormented, as they have tormented others, yet without ceasing, forever and ever. Revelation 14, verse 11. "Then we will discern between the righteous and the wicked." Malachi 3, verse 18; Wisdom of Solomon 5, verses 1 and 2; Matthew 5, verse 46.
