Nineteen Persons Called Waldenses, in the Year 1232
NINETEEN PERSONS CALLED WALDENSES, BURNT FOR THE FAITH, IN THE BISHOPRIC OF TOULOUSE, IN THE YEAR 1232
In the year 1232 the bishop of Toulouse arrested, in his dominion or bishopric, nineteen persons, who were said to be heretics, because they held to the belief of the Waldenses, whose confession we have already shown does not differ from ours; and the bishop of Toulouse had them all put to death, that is, burnt alive. Vignier, in the year 1232. Hist. Eccles. Also in the second book of the History of the Persecutions, folio 466, column 4.
