Ninth Century

The account of holy baptism that we have given for this century would supply us with no little material to fill these hundred years to the very end with true professors of the true faith, and also with those who, to all appearance, did not hesitate, as testimony of their upright and unwavering minds, to lay down their lives for the sake of Jesus Christ, which is the most that can be asked of any martyr; but since we have not been able to find their names, they can have no place in this book. It is enough, we hope, that their names are written by the hand of God in the Book of Life and eternal salvation.
