Barbelken Goethals, and Saerken van Duerhove, in the Year 1570
At Ghent, in Flanders, two pious sisters were imprisoned for their faith, named Barbelken Goethals and Saerken van Duerhove. While confined in the convent of Saint Peter, they had to resist many temptations, sufferings and vexations; but since they nevertheless held steadfastly to the divine truth, they were finally sentenced to death as heretics, and on the 21st of November, 1570, burned outside Ghent; and by this they are delivered, and shall remain so forever, from the eternal and unquenchable fire of hell.
