Isaiah
Isaiah 25
A Feast and the End of Death
Lord God, I will give you glory and sing to your name, because you carried out wonderful things, an ancient and faithful plan. Amen, Lord.
You turned cities into heaps, fortified cities, and their foundations fell. The city of ungodly people will never be rebuilt.
Therefore poor people and cities filled with injured people will bless you.
You have helped every humbled city and sheltered those discouraged by poverty. You will deliver them from evil people. You have sheltered the thirsty and refreshed injured people.
They will bless you like fainthearted people thirsting in Zion because of the ungodly people to whom you handed us over.
The Lord of armies will act for every nation on this mountain. They will drink gladness, drink wine, and anoint themselves with perfumed oil.
On this mountain, hand all these things over to the nations, because this is the plan for every nation.
Death prevailed and swallowed people up; but the Lord God has again wiped every tear from every face. He has removed his people’s disgrace from the whole earth, because the Lord has spoken.
On that day they will say, ‘Look, this is our God, in whom we hoped and rejoiced! We will celebrate in our rescue.’
God will give rest on this mountain, and Moab’s country will be trampled as people trample a floor with wagons.
He will spread out his hands as he brings a person down to destroy him, and he will bring down that person’s pride because of the thing on which he laid his hands.
He will bring down the high refuge of the wall until it reaches the ground.
