Isaiah

Isaiah 2

The Mountain of the Lord

“The word that came from the Lord to Isaiah son of Amoz concerning Judah and Jerusalem.”
“In the last days the Lord’s mountain and God’s house will be visible above the mountain peaks and lifted above the hills. All the nations will come to it.”
“Many nations will go and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain, to the house of Jacob’s God. He will announce his way to us, and we will walk in it.’ For the law will go out from Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”
“He will judge among the nations and convict many peoples. They will beat their swords into plows and their spears into sickles. Nation will not take up sword against nation, and they will no longer learn war.”
“Now, house of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the Lord’s light.”
“He abandoned his people, the house of Israel, because their land became filled with divinations as it was at the beginning, like the Philistines’ land, and many foreign children were born to them.”
“Their land is filled with silver and gold, and their treasures cannot be counted. Their land is also filled with horses, and their chariots cannot be counted.”
“The land is filled with detestable things, the works of their hands. They bow down to what their own fingers made.”
“A person bowed down and a man was humbled, but I will not pardon them.”
“Enter the rocks and hide in the earth from the Lord’s terror and the glory of his strength, when he rises to shatter the earth.”
“The Lord’s eyes are high, but humanity is low. Human arrogance will be brought down, and the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.”
“The day of the Lord of armies will come against everyone proud and arrogant, against everyone high and towering, and they will be brought low:”
“Against every tall and towering cedar of Lebanon and every oak of Bashan,”
“Against every high mountain and every lofty hill,”
“Against every high tower and every fortified wall,”
“Against every ship at sea and every display of fine ships.”
“Everyone will be brought low, and human pride will fall. The Lord alone will be exalted on that day.”
“They will hide every handmade idol.”
“They will carry them into caves, clefts in the rocks, and caverns in the ground because of the fear of the Lord and the glory of his strength, when he rises to shatter the earth.”
“On that day people will throw away the silver and gold detestable things they made for bowing down to worthless idols and bats.”
“They will enter caverns in the solid rock and clefts in the cliffs because of the fear of the Lord and the glory of his strength, when he rises to shatter the earth.”
