Enoch
Enoch 46
One who had a head of days
1 And there I saw One who had a head of days,
And his head was white like wool,
And with him was another being whose face had the appearance of a man,
And his face was full of kindness, like one of the holy messengers.
Enoch asks who he is
2 And I asked the messenger who went with me, the one who showed me all the hidden things, about that Son of Man — who he was, and where he came from, and why he went with the Head of Days. 3 And he answered and said to me,
“This is the Son of Man who has righteousness,
With whom righteousness dwells,
And who reveals all the treasures of what is hidden,
Because the Lord of Spirits has chosen him,
And whose lot has first place before the Lord of Spirits in uprightness forever.
He will raise the kings from their seats
4 And this Son of Man whom you have seen
Will raise up the kings and the mighty from their seats,
And the strong from their thrones,
And will loosen the reins of the strong,
And break the teeth of the sinners.
5 And he will bring down the kings from their thrones and kingdoms,
Because they do not extol and praise him,
Nor humbly acknowledge where the kingdom given to them came from.
6 And he will bring down the faces of the strong,
And will fill them with shame.
And darkness will be their dwelling,
And worms will be their bed,
And they will have no hope of rising from their beds,
Because they do not extol the name of the Lord of Spirits.
7 And they raise their hands against the Most High,
And tread on the earth and live on it.
And all their deeds show unrighteousness,
And their power rests on their riches,
And their faith is in the gods they have made with their hands,
And they deny the name of the Lord of Spirits,
8 And they persecute the houses of his assemblies,
And the faithful who cling to the name of the Lord of Spirits.”
