Song of Songs
Song of Songs 2
A Lily Among Thorns
1 I am a flower of the plain, a lily of the valleys.
2 Like a lily among thorns, so is my companion among the daughters.
3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the sons. I longed to sit in his shade, and his fruit was sweet in my mouth.
4 Bring me into the house of wine; set love over me.
5 Strengthen me with cakes of raisins; surround me with apples, because I am wounded with love.
6 His left hand is under my head, and his right arm will embrace me.
7 I make you swear, daughters of Jerusalem, by the powers and strengths of the field: do not wake or stir up love until it wishes.
The Voice of My Beloved
8 The voice of my beloved! Look, he is coming, leaping over the mountains and bounding over the hills.
9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young deer on the mountains of Bethel. Look, he is standing behind our wall, peering through the windows and looking through the lattice.
10 My beloved answers and says to me:
Get up and come, my companion, my beautiful one, my dove!
11 Look, winter has passed; the rain has gone away and departed.
12 Flowers have appeared on the earth; the season for pruning has arrived, and the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.
13 The fig tree has produced its early figs, and the flowering vines give off their fragrance. Get up and come, my companion, my beautiful one, my dove!
14 Come, my dove, into the shelter of the rock beside the outer wall. Show me your face and let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet and your face is beautiful.
15 Catch the little foxes for us, the ones destroying the vineyards, for our vines are in bloom.
My Beloved Is Mine
16 My beloved is mine, and I am his; he pastures his flock among the lilies.
17 Until the day breathes and the shadows move, turn back, my beloved. Be like a gazelle or a young deer on the mountains of ravines.
