Psalms of Solomon
Psalms of Solomon 18
A Psalm of Solomon, Again Concerning the Lord’s Anointed One
Lord, your mercy rests forever on the works of your hands; your kindness comes with a rich gift for Israel.
Your eyes watch over them, and not one of them will be missing. Your ears listen to a poor person’s plea offered in hope.
Your judgments cover the whole earth with mercy, and your love rests on Abraham’s descendants, the children of Israel.
Your discipline is upon us as upon an only firstborn son, to turn an obedient soul away from foolishness done in ignorance.
May God cleanse Israel in blessing for the day of mercy, for the day of choosing when he brings in his anointed one.
Blessed are those alive in those days who will see the good things the Lord will do for the coming generation:
under the rod of discipline of the Lord’s anointed one, in reverence for his God, in wisdom of spirit, righteousness, and strength,
to direct a person in works of righteousness through reverence for God and to establish all of them before the Lord—
a good generation in reverence for God, in days of mercy. Pause.
Great is our God and glorious, dwelling in the highest places. He appointed the lights in their courses to mark the times of the hours, day after day, and they have not departed from the path he commanded them.
Their path is in reverence for God each day, from the day God created them and forever.
They have not wandered since the day he created them; from ancient generations they have not departed from their paths unless God commanded them to do so at the command of his servants.
