Psalms of Solomon
Psalms of Solomon 13
A Psalm of Solomon, the Comfort of the Righteous
The Lord’s right hand sheltered me; the Lord’s right hand spared us.
The Lord’s arm saved us from a sword passing through the land, from famine, and from the death of sinners.
Evil wild animals rushed upon them. Their teeth tore their flesh, and their jaws crushed their bones.
The Lord rescued us from all these things.
A devout person was troubled because of his own offenses, fearing that he might be swept away with the sinners.
The sinner’s destruction is terrible, but none of these things will touch a righteous person.
The discipline of the righteous for sins done in ignorance is not like the destruction of sinners.
A righteous person is disciplined with restraint, so that a sinner may not rejoice over him.
For the Lord will instruct a righteous person as a beloved son, and his discipline will be like that of a firstborn.
The Lord will spare his holy ones and wipe away their offenses through discipline.
The life of the righteous lasts forever, but sinners will be taken away to destruction, and no memory of them will ever be found again.
But the Lord’s mercy rests on the holy ones, and his mercy on those who revere him.
