Psalms of Solomon 12

Of Solomon, Concerning the Tongue of Lawbreakers

1 Lord, rescue my soul from a lawbreaking and evil man, from a lawbreaking, whispering tongue that speaks false and deceitful things.
2 The words from an evil man’s tongue twist in many ways, like a fire among people setting their beauty ablaze.
3 Where he settles, his false tongue burns down houses, cuts down trees of joy, inflames lawbreakers, and his whispering lips throw households into the confusion of war.
4 May God drive the lips of lawbreakers far from the innocent by bringing them to distress. May the bones of whisperers be scattered far from those who revere the Lord. May the whispering tongue perish in flaming fire, far from the holy ones.
5 May the Lord guard the quiet soul that hates wrongdoers, and may the Lord guide the man who makes peace in his household.
6 The Lord’s rescue rests upon Israel his servant forever. May sinners perish once and for all from the Lord’s presence, and may the Lord’s holy ones inherit his promises.
