Psalms of Solomon
Psalms of Solomon 3
A Psalm of Solomon Concerning the Righteous
Why are you asleep, my soul, and not blessing the Lord? Sing a new hymn to the praiseworthy God.
Sing and keep watch for his awakening, because a good psalm to God comes from a good heart.
The righteous always remember the Lord, giving thanks and affirming that the Lord’s judgments are righteous.
The righteous person will not disregard the Lord’s discipline; his delight is always before the Lord.
The righteous person stumbled and vindicated the Lord. He fell, yet he looks to see what God will do for him and watches for where his rescue will come from.
The truth of the righteous comes from God, the one who rescues them. Sin upon sin does not lodge in a righteous person’s house.
The righteous person continually examines his house to remove wrongdoing caused by his offense.
He made atonement for ignorance by fasting and humbling his soul, and the Lord cleanses every holy man and his household.
The sinner stumbled and curses his life—the day of his birth and his mother’s labor pains.
He added sin upon sin to his life. He fell, and because his fall was evil, he will not rise again.
The sinner’s destruction lasts forever, and he will not be remembered when God comes to attend to the righteous.
This is the sinners’ portion forever. But those who fear the Lord will rise to eternal life; their life will be in the Lord’s light and will never end.
