Psalms of Solomon 1

A Cry Under Attack

1 I cried out to the Lord when I was afflicted to the utmost—to God when sinners attacked.
2 Suddenly a cry of war sounded before me. [I said], “He will listen to me, because I am full of righteousness.”
3 I reasoned in my heart that I was full of righteousness because I prospered and became numerous through my children.
4 Their wealth spread through the whole earth, and their glory reached the end of the earth.
5 They rose as high as the stars and said,
“We will never fall.”
6 They acted arrogantly amid their good things, but they could not endure them.
7 Their sins were committed in secret, and I did not know about them.
8 Their lawlessness surpassed that of the nations before them. They treated the Lord’s holy things as common and used them as ordinary things.
