Psalms 144
By David, concerning Goliath.
Blessed is the Lord my God, who teaches my hands for battle and my fingers for war.
He is my mercy and refuge, my helper and rescuer, my defender. I trusted in him, the one who subjects my people under me.
Lord, what is a human being, that you became known to him, or a human son, that you consider him?
A human being became like futility; his days pass like a shadow.
Lord, bend your heavens and descend; touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
Flash lightning, and you will scatter them; send out your arrows, and you will throw them into confusion.
Send your hand from on high; pull me out and rescue me from many waters, from the hand of foreign sons,
whose mouth spoke futility and whose right hand is a right hand of injustice.
God, I will sing a new song to you; I will make music to you on a ten-stringed harp,
to the one who gives rescue to kings and ransoms David his servant from a harmful sword.
Rescue me and pull me out from the hand of foreign sons, whose mouth spoke futility and whose right hand is a right hand of injustice.
Their sons are like newly planted shoots, strengthened in their youth; their daughters are beautified and richly adorned like the likeness of a temple.
Their storerooms are full, pouring out one kind of supply after another; their sheep bear many young and multiply at their exits.
Their oxen are fat. There is no breach in a fence, no passage, and no outcry in their public squares.
They called the people who have these things blessed, but blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.
