Psalms
Psalms 142
For understanding, by David when he was in the cave. A prayer.
1 With my voice I cried out to the Lord; with my voice I pleaded with the Lord.
2 I will pour out my plea before him and declare my affliction in his presence.
3 When my spirit was failing within me, you knew my paths. On the very road where I was walking, they hid a trap for me.
4 I looked to my right and watched, but there was no one who recognized me. Escape disappeared from me, and there was no one seeking my soul.
5 I cried out to you, Lord, and said, “You are my hope, my portion in the land of the living.”
6 Pay attention to my plea, because I was greatly humbled. Rescue me from those pursuing me, because they became stronger than I.
7 Bring my soul out of prison so that I may give thanks to your name, Lord. The righteous will wait for me until you repay me.
