Psalms
Psalms 135
Hallelujah.
Praise the Lord’s name; praise the Lord, you servants
who stand in the Lord’s house, in the courts of our God’s house.
Praise the Lord, because the Lord is good. Make music to his name, because it is beautiful.
The Lord chose Jacob for himself and Israel as his treasured possession.
I know that the Lord is great and our Lord is above all gods.
The Lord did everything he wanted in heaven and on earth, in the seas and in every deep.
He brings clouds up from the farthest part of the earth, made lightning for the rain, and brings winds out from his treasuries.
He struck Egypt’s firstborn, from human beings to cattle.
He sent signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his slaves.
He struck many nations and killed powerful kings:
Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and every kingdom of Canaan.
He gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel.
Lord, your name remains forever; Lord, your remembrance lasts from generation to generation.
The Lord will judge his people and be comforted concerning his servants.
The nations’ idols are silver and gold, works made by human hands.
They have mouths but will not speak; they have eyes but will not see.
They have ears but will not hear. [They have noses but will not smell; they have hands but will not feel; they have feet but will not walk; no sound will come from their throats.] There is no breath in their mouths.
May those who make them become like them, along with everyone who trusts in them.
House of Israel, bless the Lord. House of Aaron, bless the Lord.
House of Levi, bless the Lord. You who revere the Lord, bless the Lord.
Blessed is the Lord from Zion, the one who lives in Jerusalem.
