Psalms
Psalms 127
A song of ascents, by Solomon.
1 Unless the Lord builds a house, those building it labored for nothing. Unless the Lord guards a city, its guard stayed awake for nothing.
2 It is pointless for you to rise early and get up after sitting down, you who eat bread of sorrow, when he gives sleep to his beloved.
3 See, children are the Lord’s inheritance; the fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in a mighty person’s hand, so are the children of those who were cast out.
5 Blessed is the person who fills his desire with them. They will not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies at the gate.
