Psalms
Psalms 115
Not to us, Lord, not to us, but give glory to your name because of your mercy and truth,
so the nations may never say, “Where is their God?”
Our God is in heaven above; in heaven and on earth he did everything he desired.
The nations’ idols are silver and gold, works of human hands.
They have mouths but will not speak; they have eyes but will not see.
They have ears but will not hear; they have noses but will not smell.
They have hands but will not touch; they have feet but will not walk; they will not make a sound in their throats.
May those who make them become like them, along with everyone who trusts in them.
The house of Israel trusted in the Lord; he is their helper and defender.
The house of Aaron trusted in the Lord; he is their helper and defender.
Those who revere the Lord trusted in the Lord; he is their helper and defender.
The Lord remembered and blessed us. He blessed the house of Israel and the house of Aaron.
He blessed those who revere the Lord, small and great together.
May the Lord add to you, to you and your children.
You are blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
The highest heaven belongs to the Lord, but he gave the earth to human beings.
The dead will not praise you, Lord, nor will anyone who goes down into Hades.
But we, the living, will bless the Lord from now and forever.
