Psalms
Psalms 105
Hallelujah.
Give thanks to the Lord and call upon his name; proclaim his works among the nations.
Sing to him and make music to him; recount all his wonders.
Boast in his holy name; may the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Seek the Lord and be strengthened; seek his face continually.
Remember the wonders he performed, his astonishing deeds and the judgments of his mouth,
offspring of Abraham, his servants, children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is the Lord our God; his judgments are throughout the earth.
He remembered his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations,
which he established with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.
He established it as a decree for Jacob and an enduring covenant for Israel,
saying,
“I will give you the land of Canaan as the measured portion of your inheritance.”
when they were few in number, very few, and lived there as strangers,
they passed from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.
He did not allow anyone to treat them unjustly, and he corrected kings for their sake:
“Do not touch my anointed ones, and do no harm among my prophets.”
He called for a famine upon the land and shattered every support of bread.
He sent a man ahead of them; Joseph was sold as a slave.
They humbled his feet with shackles; his soul passed through iron
until his word came to pass and the Lord’s saying refined him with fire.
A king sent and released him; a ruler of peoples set him free.
He appointed him lord over his house and ruler over all his possessions,
to instruct his rulers as himself and make his elders wise.
Israel entered Egypt, and Jacob lived as a stranger in the land of Ham.
The Lord greatly increased his people and made them stronger than their enemies.
He turned their hearts to hate his people and deal deceitfully with his servants.
He sent Moses his servant and Aaron, whom he chose.
He placed among them the words of his signs and wonders in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness and made it dark, yet they provoked his words.
He turned their waters into blood and killed their fish.
Their land swarmed with frogs, even in their kings’ bedrooms.
He spoke, and the dog-fly came, along with gnats throughout their territory.
He turned their rain into hail and sent burning fire through their land.
He struck their vines and fig trees and shattered every tree in their territory.
He spoke, and the locust came, along with countless caterpillars.
They devoured all the grass in their land and devoured the fruit of their ground.
He also struck every firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their labor.
He brought them out with silver and gold, and no one among their tribes was weak.
Egypt rejoiced at their departure, because fear of them fell upon the Egyptians.
He spread a cloud as a shelter for them and fire to light the night for them.
They asked, and quail came, and he filled them with bread from heaven.
He split a rock, and waters flowed; rivers traveled through waterless places.
He remembered his holy word to Abraham his servant
and brought his people out with rejoicing and his chosen ones with gladness.
He gave them the lands of nations, and they inherited the labor of peoples,
so they might keep his rules and diligently seek his law.
