Psalms 104

By David.

My soul, bless the Lord. Lord my God, you became exceedingly great; you clothed yourself with thanksgiving and majesty,
wrapping yourself in light like a garment and stretching out heaven like a tent cover,
covering his upper rooms with water, making the clouds his chariot, and walking upon the wings of the winds,
making his messengers spirits and his servants a flame of fire.
He established the earth on its secure foundation; it will never be shaken.
The deep covers it like clothing; waters will stand above the mountains.
At your rebuke they will flee; at the sound of your thunder they will become afraid.
Mountains rise and plains descend to the place you founded for them.
You set a boundary they will not cross, and they will never again cover the earth.
He sends springs into the valleys; waters will flow between the mountains.
They will give every wild animal of the field a drink; wild donkeys will receive water for their thirst.
The birds of heaven will live beside them and give voice from among the rocks.
He waters the mountains from his upper rooms; the earth will be filled with the fruit of your works.
He makes grass grow for cattle and plants for humanity’s service, to bring bread out of the earth,
wine to gladden a human heart, oil to brighten a face, and bread to strengthen a human heart.
The trees of the plain will be filled, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
There sparrows will make their nests; the heron’s home takes the lead among them.
The high mountains are a refuge for deer, and the rock for hyraxes.
He made the moon for appointed times; the sun knows its setting.
You made darkness, and it became night. In it all the wild animals of the forest will pass through,
young lions roaring for prey and seeking their food from God.
The sun rose, and they gathered together and lay down in their dens.
A person will go out to his work and labor until evening.
How magnificent are your works, Lord! You made them all in wisdom; the earth was filled with your possessions.
There is this great and wide sea. In it are innumerable crawling creatures, both small and great animals.
There ships travel, and there is the dragon you made to play in it.
They all wait for you to give them food at the proper time.
When you give it to them, they will gather it. When you open your hand, everything will be filled with kindness.
When you turn your face away, they will be troubled. You will take away their breath; they will fail and return to their dust.
You will send out your Spirit, and they will be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.
May the Lord’s glory remain forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works—
the one who looks upon the earth and makes it tremble, who touches the mountains and they smoke.
I will sing to the Lord during my life; I will make music to my God as long as I exist.
May my meditation be pleasing to him, and I will rejoice in the Lord.
May sinners disappear from the earth and the lawless cease to exist. My soul, bless the Lord.
