Psalms
Psalms 91
Praise of a song by David.
The one who lives in the help of the Most High will lodge under the shelter of the God of heaven.
He will say to the Lord, “You are my helper and refuge, my God; I will trust in him,
because he will rescue me from the hunters’ trap and from a troublesome word.”
He will overshadow you with his shoulders, and you will trust beneath his wings. His truth will surround you with a shield.
You will not fear terror by night or an arrow flying by day,
or a thing moving in darkness, or calamity and the demon at noon.
A thousand will fall at your side and 10,000 at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes and see the repayment of sinners.
Because you, Lord, are my hope; you made the Most High your refuge.
Evils will not approach you, and no scourge will come near your dwelling,
because he will command his messengers concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.
They will lift you on their hands so that you never strike your foot against a stone.
You will step upon an asp and a basilisk and trample a lion and dragon.
“Because he trusted in me, I will rescue him. I will shelter him because he knew my name.
He will call upon me, and I will listen to him. I am with him in affliction; I will rescue and glorify him.
I will fill him with length of days and show him my rescue.”
