Psalms
Psalms 90
A prayer by Moses, the man of God.
Lord, you became our refuge from generation to generation.
Before mountains existed and before the earth and inhabited world were formed, you exist from age to age.
Do not turn a person back to his low place, since you said, “Return, human beings.”
A thousand years in your sight are like yesterday that passed and like a watch in the night.
Their years will be futility; in the morning let it pass away like grass.
In the morning let it flower and pass away; in the evening let it droop, wither, and dry up.
We perished in your anger and were troubled in your wrath.
You set our lawlessness before you; our age stands in the light of your face.
All our days faded, and we passed away in your wrath; our years were spun out like a spider’s web.
The days of our years are seventy years, or eighty if people are strong, and most of them are labor and trouble, because gentleness came upon us and we will be disciplined.
Who knows the power of your wrath and your anger in proportion to the fear of you?
Make your right hand known in such a way that it may be counted, along with those whose hearts are bound in wisdom.
Return, Lord! How long? Be entreated concerning your servants.
We were filled with your mercy in the morning, and we rejoiced and celebrated throughout all our days.
We rejoiced in return for the days when you humbled us and the years when we saw evil.
Look upon your servants and your works, and guide their children.
Let the brightness of the Lord our God be upon us. Direct the works of our hands for us.
