Psalms 83

A song of a psalm by Asaph.

God, who can be compared to you? Do not be silent or remain still, God.
Look, your enemies made a noise, and those who hate you lifted their heads.
They devised a cunning plan against your people and plotted against your holy ones.
They said,
“Come, let us utterly destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name will never be remembered again.”
They plotted together in harmony and made a covenant against you:
the tents of the Edomites and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, the Philistines, and those who live in Tyre.
Even Assyria joined them and became a support to Lot’s sons. Pause.
Do to them as you did to Midian and Sisera, and as you did to Jabin at the Kishon stream.
They were utterly destroyed at Endor and became manure for the ground.
Make their rulers like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna,
who said,
“Let us take God’s sanctuary as our inheritance.”
My God, make them like a wheel, like stubble before the wind.
As fire burns through a thicket and a flame consumes mountains,
so pursue them with your storm and trouble them in your anger.
Fill their faces with dishonor, and they will seek your name, Lord.
Let them be ashamed and troubled forever and ever; let them be disgraced and perish.
Then they will know that your name is Lord and that you alone are Most High over all the earth.
