Psalms 80
For the end, concerning those who will be changed. A witness by Asaph, a psalm concerning the Assyrian.
Shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who guide Joseph like sheep. You who sit upon the cherubim, appear
before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Stir up your might and come to save us.
God, turn us back and make your face shine, and we will be saved.
Lord God of armies, how long will you be angry with your servant’s prayer?
Will you feed us bread made of tears and give us tears to drink by measure?
You made us an object of dispute for our neighbors, and our enemies mocked us.
Lord God of armies, turn us back and make your face shine, and we will be saved. Pause.
You removed a vine from Egypt, drove out nations, and planted it.
You prepared a way before it and planted its roots, and the earth was filled.
Its shadow covered mountains, and its climbing branches covered God’s cedars.
It extended its branches as far as the sea and its shoots as far as the river.
Why did you tear down its fence, so everyone traveling the road harvests it?
A boar from the forest ravaged it, and a lone wild animal grazed on it.
God of armies, please turn back. Look from heaven, see, and visit this vine.
Restore the vine your right hand planted, and look upon the human son you strengthened for yourself.
It was burned with fire and dug up; they will perish at the rebuke of your presence.
May your hand rest upon the man at your right hand, upon the human son you strengthened for yourself.
Then we will never turn away from you. You will give us life, and we will call upon your name.
Lord God of armies, turn us back and make your face shine, and we will be saved.
