Psalms 66

For the end. A song of a psalm [of resurrection].

Shout aloud to God, all the earth!
Make music to his name; give glory to his praise.
Say to God,
“How fearsome are your works! Because of your great power, your enemies will lie to you.
May all the earth bow down to you and make music to you; may they make music to your name.” Pause.
Come and see God’s works. His plans are fearsome beyond those of human beings.
He turns the sea into dry land; people will cross the river on foot. There we will rejoice in him,
the one who rules the age by his power. His eyes watch the nations. May those who provoke him not exalt themselves. Pause.
Nations, bless our God, and make the sound of his praise heard.
He set my soul in life and did not allow my feet to be shaken.
You tested us, God; you refined us with fire as silver is refined.
You led us into the trap and laid afflictions upon our backs.
You made people ride over our heads. We passed through fire and water, but you brought us into refreshment.
I will enter your house with whole burnt offerings and fulfill my vows to you,
the vows my lips formed and my mouth spoke in my affliction.
I will bring you whole burnt offerings rich with marrow, along with incense and rams; I will sacrifice oxen with male goats to you. Pause.
Come and listen, all who revere God, and I will recount everything he has done for my soul.
I cried to him with my mouth and exalted him beneath my tongue.
If I had looked upon injustice in my heart, may the Lord not hear me.
Therefore God has heard me and paid attention to the sound of my plea.
Blessed is God, who has not turned my prayer or his mercy away from me.
