Psalms 63

A psalm by David, when he was in the wilderness of Judea.

God, my God, I rise early for you. My soul thirsted for you. How often my flesh longed for you in a desolate, trackless, waterless land!
In this way I appeared before you in the holy place, to see your power and glory.
Your mercy is better than life; my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you during my life and lift up my hands in your name.
May my soul be filled as with fat and richness, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips.
I remembered you on my bed; in the early morning hours I meditated on you.
You became my helper, and I will rejoice under the cover of your wings.
My soul clung closely behind you; your right hand supported me.
But they sought my soul for nothing. They will enter the lowest parts of the earth.
They will be handed over to the power of the sword; they will become portions for foxes.
But the king will be glad in God. Everyone who swears by him will be praised, because the mouths of those who speak injustice have been stopped.
