Psalms 58

For the end. Do not destroy. An inscription by David.

Do you truly speak righteousness? Do you judge uprightly, human beings?
No, you practice lawlessness in your hearts on the earth; your hands weave injustice together.
Sinners became estranged from the womb; they wandered from the belly and spoke lies.
Their rage is like a snake’s, like a deaf asp that closes its ears
and will not listen to the voice of charmers or to a spell skillfully prepared by a wise person.
God shattered their teeth in their mouths; the Lord crushed the lions’ molars.
They will be treated as nothing, like water flowing away. He will draw his bow until they become weak.
They will be destroyed like melting wax. Fire fell, and they did not see the sun.
Before your thorns recognize the buckthorn, he will swallow you alive, as in wrath.
The righteous will rejoice when he sees vengeance on the ungodly; he will wash his hands in the sinner’s blood.
A person will say, “There really is fruit for the righteous; there really is a God judging them on the earth.”
