Psalms
Psalms 53
For the end, concerning Mahalath. For understanding, by David.
1 The fool said in his heart, “There is no God.” They became corrupt and detestable in lawlessness; no one does good.
2 God looked down from heaven upon human beings to see whether anyone understood or sought God.
3 Everyone turned aside; together they became useless. No one does good—not even one.
4 Will none of those who practice lawlessness understand? They devour my people as though eating bread, and they did not call upon God.
5 There they will be greatly afraid where there was no fear, because God scattered the bones of people-pleasers. They were put to shame, because God treated them as nothing.
6 Who will give Israel rescue from Zion? When the Lord restores his people from captivity, Jacob will rejoice and Israel will be glad.
