Psalms
Psalms 45
For the end, concerning those who will be changed. By the sons of Korah, for understanding. A song concerning the beloved.
My heart overflowed with a good word. I address my works to the king; my tongue is the pen of a fast-writing scribe.
You are more beautiful than all other human beings. Favor was poured out on your lips, so God blessed you forever.
Mighty one, strap your sword to your thigh in your splendor and beauty.
Draw your bow, prosper, and reign for the sake of truth, gentleness, and righteousness. Your right hand will guide you wonderfully.
Your arrows are sharpened, mighty one—peoples will fall beneath you—in the heart of the king’s enemies.
Your throne, God, lasts forever and ever; the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness.
You loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Therefore God, your God, anointed you with the oil of rejoicing beyond your companions.
Myrrh, oil of myrrh, and cassia waft from your garments, from ivory palaces, from which they gladdened you.
Kings’ daughters are in your honor. The queen stood at your right hand, clothed in gold-woven, richly patterned clothing.
Listen, daughter; see and incline your ear. Forget your people and your father’s house,
because the king desired your beauty, for he is your lord.
The daughters of Tyre will bow down to him with gifts; the rich among the people will appeal to you.
All the king’s daughter’s glory is within. She is clothed in gold-fringed, richly patterned clothing.
Virgins will be brought to the king behind her; her companions will be brought to you.
They will be brought with gladness and rejoicing; they will be led into the king’s temple.
Sons were born to you in place of your ancestors; you will appoint them rulers over all the earth.
They will remember your name in every generation. Therefore peoples will give thanks to you forever and ever.
