Psalms 36

For the end. By David, the Lord’s servant.

The lawbreaker speaks within himself about sinning; there is no fear of God before his eyes.
He acted deceitfully before him, so that his lawlessness would be discovered and hated.
The words of his mouth are lawlessness and deceit; he did not want to understand how to do good.
He devised lawlessness on his bed, committed himself to every way that is not good, and did not loathe evil.
Lord, your mercy is in heaven, and your truth reaches to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like God’s mountains, and your judgments are a great depth. Lord, you save both humans and cattle.
How greatly you multiplied your mercy, God! Human beings will trust in the shelter of your wings.
They will drink their fill from the richness of your house, and you will give them drink from the torrent of your delights.
With you is the fountain of life; in your light we will see light.
Extend your mercy to those who know you, and your righteousness to those whose hearts are upright.
Do not let the foot of pride come against me or the hand of sinners shake me.
There the workers of lawlessness fell; they were driven out and will never be able to stand.
