Psalms
Psalms 25
A psalm by David.
To you, Lord, I lifted up my soul, my God.
I trust in you. Do not let me be put to shame or let my enemies laugh at me.
Indeed, none who wait for you will be put to shame. Let all who act lawlessly for no reason be put to shame.
Make your ways known to me, Lord, and teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me, because you are God, the one who saves me, and I have waited for you all day.
Remember your compassion and mercy, Lord, because they have existed from eternity.
Do not remember the sins of my youth or the things I did in ignorance. Remember me according to your mercy, because of your kindness, Lord.
The Lord is kind and upright, so he will instruct sinners in the way.
He will guide the gentle in judgment and teach the gentle his ways.
All the Lord’s ways are mercy and truth for those who seek his covenant and his witnesses.
For your name’s sake, Lord, you will also be merciful to my sin, because it is great.
Who is the person who fears the Lord? The Lord will instruct him in the way he has chosen.
His soul will lodge among good things, and his offspring will inherit the land.
The Lord is the strength of those who fear him, [and the Lord’s name belongs to those who fear him,] and his covenant makes things known to them.
My eyes are always toward the Lord, because he will pull my feet from the trap.
Look upon me and show me mercy, because I am alone and poor.
The distress of my heart has grown wide; bring me out of my troubles.
See my humiliation and hardship, and forgive all my sins.
See how my enemies have multiplied and hated me with unjust hatred.
Guard my soul and rescue me. Do not let me be put to shame, because I have trusted in you.
The innocent and upright clung to me, because I waited for you, Lord.
God, ransom Israel from all his distress.
