Psalms 16

An inscription by David.

Guard me, Lord, because I have trusted in you.
I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, because you have no need of my good things.”
As for the holy ones in his land, he has made all his desires wonderful among them.
Their weaknesses multiplied; afterward they hurried. I will never gather their gatherings formed from blood or mention their names with my lips.
The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You are the one who restores my inheritance to me.
The boundary lines fell for me in the best places; indeed, my inheritance is the best for me.
I will bless the Lord who gave me understanding. Even into the night my kidneys instructed me.
I saw the Lord before me continually. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced. Even my flesh will rest in hope,
because you will not abandon my soul in Hades or allow your holy one to see decay.
You made the ways of life known to me. You will fill me with gladness in your presence; at your right hand are pleasures to the end.
