Psalms
Psalms 5
For the end, concerning her who inherits. A psalm by David.
Listen to my words, Lord; understand my cry.
Pay attention to the voice of my plea, my King and my God, because I will pray to you, Lord.
In the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will stand before you and watch.
You are not a God who wants lawlessness, and no one who does evil will live beside you.
Lawbreakers will not remain before your eyes. You hate all who practice lawlessness.
You will destroy all who speak falsehood. The Lord detests a bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
But in the abundance of your mercy I will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in fear of you.
Lord, guide me in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your way straight before me.
There is no truth in their mouths; their hearts are futile. Their throats are open tombs, and they deceive with their tongues.
Judge them, God! May they fall away from their schemes. Drive them out because of their many ungodly acts, for they have provoked you, Lord.
Let all who trust in you be glad. They will rejoice forever, and you will live among them. All who love your name will boast in you.
For you will bless the righteous, Lord. You have crowned us as with a weapon of good will.
