Psalms 4

For the end, among psalms. A song by David.

1 When I called, the God of my righteousness heard me. You made room for me in affliction. Have compassion on me and hear my prayer.
2 People, how long will you be slow of heart? Why do you love futility and seek falsehood? Pause.
3 Know that the Lord has made his holy one wonderful. The Lord will hear me when I cry to him.
4 Be angry, but do not sin. Speak within your hearts on your beds, and be pierced. Pause.
5 Offer a sacrifice of righteousness, and trust in the Lord.
6 Many say,
“Who will show us good things?”
The light of your face, Lord, has been marked upon us.
7 You have put gladness in my heart. They have increased from the season of their grain, wine, and olive oil.
8 I will both lie down in peace and sleep, because you alone, Lord, have made me live in hope.
