Job 10

The Bible (Septuagint)

Job

Job 10

1 I am worn out in my soul.
Groaning, I will let my words go against him;
I will speak, held fast in the bitterness of my soul.
2 And I will say to the Lord:
Do not teach me to be ungodly.
Why have you judged me like this?
3 Is it good for you that I should be in the wrong,
that you disown the work of your own hands
and give your attention to the counsel of the ungodly?
4 Do you see the way a mortal sees?
Do you look the way a man looks?
5 Is your life a human life,
are your years the years of a man,
6 that you have hunted out my lawlessness and tracked down my sins?
7 You know that I have not been ungodly;
and yet who is there who can pull anyone out of your hands?

Your Hands Made Me

8 Your hands shaped me and made me;
then you turned and struck me.
9 Remember that you shaped me out of clay,
and you are turning me back into earth.
10 Did you not pour me out like milk
and curdle me like cheese?
11 You clothed me with skin and flesh
and threaded me together with bones and sinews.
12 You granted me life and mercy,
and your watch over me kept my spirit.
13 You have all this in yourself.
I know that you can do anything, and that nothing is impossible for you.
14 If I sin, you are watching me,
and you have not cleared me of lawlessness.
15 If I am ungodly — then it is misery for me.
And if I am righteous, I still cannot lift my head,
for I am full of dishonor.
16 I am hunted like a lion for the slaughter;
and you turn again and destroy me terribly,
17 making your examination of me new again.
You have used great anger on me;
you have brought trials down on me.

Let Me Rest a Little

18 Why then did you bring me out of the womb?
Why did I not die, with no eye ever seeing me,
19 and become as though I had never been?
Why was I not carried straight from the belly to the tomb?
20 Is the time of my life not short?
Let me rest a little,
21 before I go where I do not come back from,
to a land dark and gloomy,
22 to a land of everlasting darkness,
where there is no light, and no seeing the life of mortals.
