Nehemiah 11

1 And the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. And the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to settle in Jerusalem, the holy city, and the nine parts in the cities. 2 And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered themselves to settle in Jerusalem. 3 And these are the leaders of the province who settled in Jerusalem. And in the cities of Judah each man settled in his own holding, in their cities — Israel, the priests and the Levites and the temple servants and the sons of the servants of Solomon. [a]

4 And in Jerusalem there settled some of the sons of Judah and some of the sons of Benjamin. Of the sons of Judah: Athaiah son of Azaiah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalalel; and some of the sons of Perez. [b] 5 And Maaseiah son of Baruch, son of Chalaza, son of Uzziah, son of Adaiah, son of Joiarib, son of Theziah, son of the Shilonite. [c] 6 All the sons of Perez living in Jerusalem were 468 men of strength.

7 And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Joed, son of Pedaiah, son of Kolaiah, son of Maaseiah, son of Ithiel, son of Jeshaiah; 8 and after him Gabbai, Sallai — 928. 9 And Joel son of Zichri was overseer over them, and Judah son of Hassenuah was second over the city.

10 Of the priests: Jedaiah son of Joiarib, Jachin, 11 Seraiah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, in front of the house of God; [d] 12 and their brothers doing the work of the house: Amasi son of Zechariah, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, [e] 13 leaders of families — 242. And Amashsai son of Esdriel, [f] 14 and his brothers, mighty men for the battle line — 128; and their overseer was Badiel. [g]

15 And of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, son of Ezri; [h] 17 and Mattaniah son of Mica, and Obed son of Shammua: [j] 18 284. 19 And the gatekeepers: Akkub, Talmon, and their brothers — 172. [k]

22 And the overseer of the Levites was the son of Bani; Uzzi son of Hashabiah, son of Mica. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers, in front of the work of the house of God — [l] 23 for the king’s command was over them. 24 And Pethahiah son of Bazeza was at the king’s hand in every matter concerning the people. [m]

25 And as for the villages in their fields: some of the sons of Judah settled in Kiriath-arba, 26 and in Jeshua, 27 and in Beersheba; 30 and their villages — Lachish and its fields. And they pitched their camp in Beersheba. [n]

31 And the sons of Benjamin: from Geba, Michmash. 36 And of the Levites there were divisions of Judah for Benjamin.
