2 Chronicles 4

The Bronze Altar and the Sea

1 And he made the bronze altar: thirty feet long, thirty feet wide, and fifteen feet high. 2 And he made the sea, cast in one piece: fifteen feet across, perfectly round, seven and a half feet high, and forty-five feet around.

3 And under it was the likeness of calves, ringing it all the way around; for fifteen feet they went around the basin, all the way around. They cast the calves in two rows, in the one casting with it, 4 and so they made them, twelve calves — three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; and the sea rested on them above, and their hind parts were turned inward. 5 Its thickness was three inches, and its rim was like the rim of a cup, carved with lily blossoms. It held about eighteen thousand gallons. And he finished it.

Basins, Lampstands, Tables and Courts

6 And he made ten basins, and he set five on the right and five on the left, to wash in them what was made ready for the whole burnt offerings, and to rinse things in them. And the sea was for the priests to wash in. 7 And he made the ten golden lampstands, according to the rule for them, and set them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. 8 And he made ten tables and set them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. And he made a hundred golden bowls.

9 And he made the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court, and their doorframes were overlaid with bronze. 10 And he set the sea at the corner of the house, on the right, facing east.

What Hiram Finished

11 And Hiram made the meat-hooks and the fire pans and the grate of the altar and all its vessels. And Hiram finished all the work that he did for King Solomon in the house of God: 12 two pillars, and on them the bowls of the capitals, on the tops of the two pillars; and two nets to cover the tops of the capitals that are on the tops of the pillars; 13 and four hundred golden bells for the two nets, and two rows of pomegranates in the one net, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that are above the pillars;

14 and he made the ten stands, and he made the basins on the stands; 15 and the one sea, and the twelve calves under it; 16 and the foot-basins, and the scoops, and the cauldrons, and the meat-hooks, and all their vessels — which Hiram made and brought up to King Solomon in the house of the Lord — of pure bronze.

17 In the country around the Jordan the king cast them, in the clay ground, at the house of Succoth and between there and Sirdatha. 18 And Solomon made all these vessels in very great number, for the weight of the bronze never ran out.

The Gold Inside the House

19 And Solomon made all the vessels of the house of the Lord: the golden altar, and the tables, and on them the loaves of the setting-out; 20 and the lampstands, and the lamps for the light, according to the rule, and in front of the inner room — of pure gold; 21 and their tongs, and their lamps; and he made the bowls, and the incense pans, and the fire pans, of pure gold; 22 and the inner door of the house, into the most holy place, and the doors of the house of the temple, of gold.
