1 Chronicles 25

1 And David the king and the commanders of the army set apart for the work the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, the men who spoke out in prophecy with lyres and with harps and with cymbals. And this was their number, head by head, of the men at work in their work: [a] 2 of the sons of Asaph — Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Erael: sons of Asaph, at the side of Asaph the prophet, at the side of the king. [b]

3 Belonging to Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun — Gedaliah, and Suri, and Jeshaiah, and Shimei, and Hashabiah, and Mattithiah: six, following their father Jeduthun, striking up on the lyre thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. [c] 4 Belonging to Heman, the sons of Heman — Bukkiah, and Mattaniah, and Azarael, and Shubael, and Jerimoth, and Hananiah, and Hanani, and Eliathah, and Giddalti, and Romemthi-od, and Joshbekashah, and Mallothi, and Hothir, and Mahazioth. [d] 5 All these were sons to Heman, who struck up the music for the king in the words of God, to lift up a horn. And God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. [e]

6 All these, together with their father, sang hymns in the house of the Lord with cymbals and with harps and with lyres, at the side of the king, and of Asaph, and of Jeduthun, and of Heman. [f] 7 And their number, along with their brothers — men taught to sing to the Lord, every one of them with understanding — was two hundred and eighty-eight.

8 And they too cast lots for their turns of duty, for the small and for the great alike, the accomplished along with the learners. 9 And the first lot of his sons and his brothers came out for Asaph, for Joseph, for Gedaliah. The second, Henia: his brothers and his sons, twelve. [g] 10 The third, Zaccur: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 11 The fourth, Jesdri: his sons and his brothers, twelve. [h] 12 The fifth, Nethaniah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 13 The sixth, Bukkiah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 14 The seventh, Iseriel: his sons and his brothers, twelve. [i]

15 The eighth, Josiah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. [j] 16 The ninth, Mattaniah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 17 The tenth, Shimei: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 18 The eleventh, Azariah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. [k] 19 The twelfth, Hashabiah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 20 The thirteenth, Shubael: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 21 The fourteenth, Mattithiah: his sons and his brothers, twelve.

22 The fifteenth, Jerimoth: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 23 The sixteenth, Hananiah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 24 The seventeenth, Joshbekashah: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 25 The eighteenth, Hanani: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 26 The nineteenth, Mallothi: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 27 The twentieth, Eliathah: his sons and his brothers, twelve.

28 The twenty-first, Hothir: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 29 The twenty-second, Giddalti: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 30 The twenty-third, Mahazioth: his sons and his brothers, twelve. 31 The twenty-fourth, Romemthi-od: his sons and his brothers, twelve.
