1 Chronicles 20

Rabbah Falls

1 At the turn of the year, at the time when kings go out, Joab led out the whole force of the army, and they ravaged the country of the sons of Ammon. And he came and laid siege to Rabbah. But David stayed in Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah and tore it down. 2 And David took the crown of Milcom their king off his head. Its weight was found to be about seventy-five pounds of gold, and in it was a precious stone; and it was on David’s head. And he carried out the spoils of the city, a very great quantity. 3 And he brought out the people who were in it and sawed them apart with saws and with iron axes. And this is what David did to all the sons of Ammon. And David and all his people went back to Jerusalem.

Three Fights with the Giants

4 And after this there was war again at Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sobochai the Ousathite struck down Saphu, one of the sons of the giants, and brought him low. 5 And there was war with the Philistines again. And Eleanan son of Jair struck down Leemi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, and the shaft of his spear was like a weaver’s beam.

6 And there was war at Gath again. And there was a man of enormous size, and his fingers and toes were six and six, twenty-four in all; and he too was descended from the giants. 7 And he defied Israel, and Jonathan son of Shammah, David’s brother, struck him down. 8 These were born to Rapha in Gath. All four were giants, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
