1 Chronicles 7

1 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron — four. 2 And the sons of Tola: Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Samuel, leaders of their fathers’ houses belonging to Tola, mighty in strength according to their generations. Their number in the days of David was 22,600. 3 And the sons of Uzzi: Izrahiah. And the sons of Izrahiah: Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah — five, all of them leaders. [a]

4 And with them, according to their generations, according to their fathers’ houses, were men strong enough to form up in battle for war — 36,000 — for they had many wives and sons. 5 And their brothers throughout all the families of Issachar were mighty in strength: 87,000, the number of them all.

6 Benjamin: Bela, Becher, and Jediael — three. 7 And the sons of Bela: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Uri — five, leaders of fathers’ houses, mighty in strength. And their number was 22,034. 8 And the sons of Becher: Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elithenan, Amariah, Jerimoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Gemeeth. All these were the sons of Becher. [b] 9 And their number, according to their generations — leaders of their fathers’ houses, mighty in strength — was 20,200.

10 And the sons of Jediael: Bilhan. And the sons of Bilhan: Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Chenaanah, Zethan, Ramessai, and Ahishahar. [c] 11 All these were the sons of Jediael, leaders of the fathers’ houses, mighty in strength — 17,200, going out with the army to make war. 12 And Shuppim and Huppim, and the sons of Raom; his son was Aher. [d] 13 The sons of Naphtali: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shallum — the sons of Bilhah. [e]

14 The sons of Manasseh: Asriel, whom his Aramean concubine bore; she bore Machir the father of Gilead. [f] 15 And Machir took a wife for Huppim and for Shuppim; and the name of his sister was Maacah. And the name of the second was Zelophehad, and daughters were born to Zelophehad. [g] 16 And Maacah the wife of Machir bore a son, and she called his name Peresh; and the name of his brother was Sheresh; his son was Ulam. [h]

17 And the sons of Ulam: Bedan. These were the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh. 18 And his sister Hammolecheth bore Isadek, Abiezer, and Mahlah. [i] 19 And the sons of Shemida were Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam. [j]

20 And the sons of Ephraim: Shuthelah; Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Nomee his son, [k] 21 Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead. And the men of Gath who were born in the land killed them, because they had gone down to take their cattle.

22 And Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brothers came to comfort him. 23 And he went in to his wife, and she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Beriah, because, as he said, “He was born into trouble in my house.” [l] 24 And he was among those who were left, and he built Beth-horon the lower and the upper. And the sons of Ozan: Sheerah, [m]

25 Rephah was his son, Resheph and Telah his sons, Tahan his son, [n] 26 and to Ladan his son: Ammihud his son, Elishama his son, 27 Nun his son, Joshua his son. †

28 And their holding and their settlements: Bethel and its villages; to the east, Naaran; to the west, Gezer and its villages; and Shechem and its villages, as far as Gaian and its villages; [o] 29 and as far as the borders of the sons of Manasseh: Beth-shan and its villages, Taanach and its villages, Balad and its villages, Megiddo and its villages, Dor and its villages. In these the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, lived. [p]

30 The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah, and Serah their sister. 31 And the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel; he was the father of Birzaith. 32 And Heber fathered Japhlet, Shomer, Hotham, and Sola their sister. [q] 33 And the sons of Japhlet: Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath. These were the sons of Japhlet.

34 And the sons of Shomer: Ahiuraoga, Hubbah, and Aram, 35 and Banelam; his brothers were Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal. [r] 36 The sons of Zophah: Chuchi, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah, 37 Sobal, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran, and Beera.

38 And the sons of Jether: Jephunneh, Pispah, and Ara. 39 And the sons of Ulla: Orech, Hanniel, and Rizia. 40 All these were the sons of Asher, all of them leaders of fathers’ houses, picked men, mighty in strength, leaders and leading men. Their number, drawn up in battle line for war: their number was 26,000 men.
