1 Chronicles 2

1 These are the names of the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, 2 Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, Asher. [a]

3 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah — three. They were born to him of the daughter of Shua the Canaanite woman. And Er, the firstborn of Judah, was wicked before the Lord, and the Lord killed him. [b] 4 And Tamar his daughter-in-law bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

9 And the sons of Hezron who were born to him: Jerahmeel, and Ram, and Caleb, and Aram. 10 And Aram fathered Amminadab, and Amminadab fathered Nahshon, leader of the house of Judah. [f] 11 And Nahshon fathered Salmon, and Salmon fathered Boaz, 12 and Boaz fathered Obed, and Obed fathered Jesse,

13 and Jesse fathered his firstborn Eliab; Abinadab was the second, Shammah the third, 14 Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, 15 Ozem the sixth, David the seventh. [g] † 16 And their sister was Zeruiah, and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah: Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel — three. 17 And Abigail bore Amasa; and the father of Amasa was Jether the Ishmaelite.

18 And Caleb son of Hezron had children by Azubah his wife and by Jerioth. And these were her sons: Joasar, and Shobab, and Orna. [h] 19 And Azubah died, and Caleb took Ephrath for himself, and she bore him Hur. 20 And Hur fathered Uri, and Uri fathered Bezalel.

21 And after this Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, and he took her when he was sixty years old, and she bore him Segub. [i] 22 And Segub fathered Jair, and he had twenty-three cities in Gilead. 23 And Geshur and Aram took the villages of Jair from them, with Kenath and its villages — sixty cities. All these belonged to the sons of Machir the father of Gilead. 24 And after the death of Hezron, Caleb came to Ephrathah. And the wife of Hezron was Abijah, and she bore him Ashhod the father of Tekoa. [j]

25 And the sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron were: the firstborn Ram, and Baanah, and Aran, and Ozem his brother. 26 And Jerahmeel had another wife, and her name was Atarah; she is the mother of Ozom. [k] 27 And the sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel were Maas, and Jamin, and Acor. 28 And the sons of Ozom were Samai and Jadae. And the sons of Samai: Nadab and Abishur.

29 And the name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail, and she bore him Achabar and Molid. 30 The sons of Nadab: Salad and Appaim. And Salad died without children. 31 And the sons of Appaim: Isemiel. And the sons of Isemiel: Sosan. And the sons of Sosan: Ahlai. 32 And the sons of Jadae: Ahishamai, Jether, Jonathan. And Jether died without children. 33 And the sons of Jonathan: Phaleth and Ozaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel. [l]

34 And Sosan had no sons, but daughters. And Sosan had an Egyptian servant, and his name was Jochel. 35 And Sosan gave his daughter to Jochel his servant as a wife, and she bore him Ethi. 36 And Ethi fathered Nathan, and Nathan fathered Zabed, 37 and Zabed fathered Aphalel, and Aphalel fathered Obed, 38 and Obed fathered Jehu, and Jehu fathered Azariah, 39 and Azariah fathered Chelles, and Chelles fathered Eleasa, 40 and Eleasa fathered Sosomai, and Sosomai fathered Shallum, 41 and Shallum fathered Jechemiah, and Jechemiah fathered Elishama. 42 And the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel: Marisa his firstborn — he is the father of Ziph — and the sons of Marisa the father of Hebron. 43 And the sons of Hebron: Korah, and Thapous, and Rekem, and Semaa. 44 And Semaa fathered Raem the father of Jerkaan, and Jerkaan fathered Samai. 45 And his son was Maon, and Maon is the father of Beth-zur.

46 And Ephah the concubine of Caleb bore Haran, and Mosa, and Gezue. And Haran fathered Gezue. [n] 47 And the sons of Jadai: Ragem, and Jotham, and Gershom, and Phalet, and Ephah, and Sagaph. [o] 48 And Mocha, Caleb’s concubine, bore Saber and Tharchna. 49 She bore also Sagaph the father of Marmena, and Sau the father of Machabena and the father of Gaibaa. And the daughter of Caleb was Achsah.

50 These were the sons of Caleb. The sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephrathah: Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim, 51 Salomon the father of Bethlehem, Arim the father of Beth-gedor. [p] 52 And Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim had sons: Araa, and Esi, and Ammanith, 53 Emospheos, the city of Jair, and Aithalim, and Miphithim, and Hesamathim, and Hemasaraim. From these came the Zorathites and the Eshtaolites. [q]

54 The sons of Salomon: Bethlehem, the Netophathite, Ataroth of the house of Joab, and half of the Manathi, the Esari, 55 the families of the scribes who lived in Jabes: the Thargathiim, the Samathiim, the Sokathiim. These are the Kenites who came from Mesema, the father of the house of Rechab. [r]
