Leviticus 6
Wrong Done to a Neighbor
1 The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 2 “If a soul sins and utterly disregards the commands of the Lord, and deals falsely with his neighbor over something left in trust, or a partnership, or something seized, or has wronged his neighbor in any way, 3 or has found what was lost and lied about it, and has sworn falsely about any one of all the things a man may do so as to sin by them — 4 then when he has sinned and done wrong, he is to give back what he seized, or make good the injury he did, or return what was left in his trust, or the lost thing he found, 5 in any matter about which he swore falsely. He is to pay it back in full and add a fifth more to it, and give it to its owner on the day he is found out. 6 And for his wrongdoing he is to bring to the Lord a ram from the flock without blemish, worth the value of what he did wrong. 7 The priest is to make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of all the things he did and did wrong in.”
The Fire That Never Goes Out
8 The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 9 “Charge Aaron and his sons: This is the law of the whole burnt offering. The whole burnt offering is to stay in its burning on the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar is to keep burning on it. It is not to go out. 10 The priest is to put on the linen tunic and put linen undergarments on his body, and he is to lift the burnt remains — what the fire has consumed of the whole burnt offering — away from the altar and set them down beside the altar. 11 Then he is to take off his garments and put on other garments, and carry the burnt remains outside the camp to a clean place. 12 The fire on the altar is to keep burning from it and not go out. The priest is to burn wood on it every morning, and pile the whole burnt offering on it, and lay on it the fat of the sacrifice of well-being. 13 The fire is to burn on the altar without stopping. It is not to go out.
The Priests' Share of the Grain
14 This is the law of the sacrifice, which Aaron’s sons are to bring before the Lord, in front of the altar. 15 He is to take from it a handful of the fine flour of the sacrifice, with its oil and with all its frankincense that are on the sacrifice, and bring it up on the altar as an altar offering — a pleasing smell, its memorial portion, to the Lord. 16 What is left of it Aaron and his sons are to eat. It is to be eaten without yeast in a holy place; they are to eat it in the court of the tent of witness. 17 It is not to be baked with yeast. I have given it to them as their portion out of the altar offerings of the Lord. It is most holy, like the offering for sin and like the offering for wrongdoing. 18 Every male among the priests is to eat it. This is a lasting practice through your generations out of the altar offerings of the Lord. Anyone who touches them will be made holy.
The Priest's Own Daily Gift
19 The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 20 “This is the gift of Aaron and his sons, which they are to bring to the Lord on the day he is anointed: two quarts of fine flour as a standing sacrifice, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening. 21 It is to be made with oil on a griddle. He is to bring it kneaded, in rolls — a sacrifice of broken pieces, a sacrifice of a pleasing smell to the Lord. 22 The anointed priest who takes his place from among his sons is to make it. This is a lasting law: all of it is to be burned through. 23 Every sacrifice of a priest is to be wholly burned. It is not to be eaten.”
The Law of the Offering for Sin
24 The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 25 “Speak to Aaron and his sons: This is the law of the offering for sin. In the place where the whole burnt offering is killed, the offerings for sin are to be killed before the Lord. They are most holy. 26 The priest who brings it up is to eat it. It is to be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of witness. 27 Everyone who touches its flesh will be made holy; and if any of its blood is sprinkled onto a garment, whatever it is sprinkled on is to be washed in a holy place. 28 A clay pot it has been boiled in is to be broken; if it has been boiled in a bronze pot, the pot is to be scoured and rinsed with water. 29 Every male among the priests is to eat it. It is most holy to the Lord. 30 But no offering for sin whose blood is carried into the tent of witness to make atonement in the holy place is to be eaten. It is to be burned up with fire.”
