Leviticus 3
The Sacrifice of Well-Being
1 “If his gift to the Lord is a sacrifice of well-being, and he brings it from the oxen, whether male or female, he is to bring it without blemish before the Lord. 2 He is to lay his hands on the head of the gift and kill it before the Lord, by the doors of the tent of witness, and Aaron’s sons the priests are to pour the blood all around the altar of whole burnt offerings. 3 Out of the sacrifice of well-being they are to bring an altar offering to the Lord: the fat that covers the belly, and all the fat that is on the belly, 4 and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, on the thighs, and the lobe on the liver — he is to take it away together with the kidneys. 5 Aaron’s sons the priests are to bring these up on the altar, on top of the whole burnt offerings, on the wood that is on the fire on the altar. It is an altar offering, a pleasing smell to the Lord.
From the Flock
6 If his gift is from the sheep, a sacrifice of well-being to the Lord, male or female, he is to bring it without blemish. 7 If he brings a lamb as his gift, he is to bring it before the Lord 8 and lay his hands on the head of his gift and kill it by the doors of the tent of witness, and Aaron’s sons the priests are to pour the blood all around the altar. 9 Out of the sacrifice of well-being he is to bring an altar offering to God: the fat, and the whole loin without blemish — he is to take it away with the flanks — and the fat of the belly, 10 and both kidneys and the fat that is on them, on the thighs, and the lobe on the liver — taking it away together with the kidneys — 11 and the priest is to bring them up on the altar. It is a pleasing smell, an altar offering to the Lord.
From the Goats
12 If his gift is from the goats, he is to bring it before the Lord 13 and lay his hands on its head, and they are to kill it before the Lord by the doors of the tent of witness, and Aaron’s sons the priests are to pour the blood all around the altar. 14 Out of it he is to bring up an altar offering to the Lord: the fat that covers the belly, and all the fat that is on the belly, 15 and both kidneys and all the fat that is on them, on the thighs, and the lobe of the liver — he is to take it away together with the kidneys. 16 The priest is to bring it up on the altar. It is an altar offering, a pleasing smell to the Lord. All the fat belongs to the Lord. 17 This is a lasting practice through your generations, in every place you live: you are to eat no fat and no blood.”
