Leviticus 2

The Sacrifice of Fine Flour

1 “If a soul brings a gift to the Lord, a sacrifice, his gift is to be fine flour. He is to pour olive oil on it and put frankincense on it. It is a sacrifice. 2 He is to bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests, and the priest is to take a full handful of the fine flour with the oil, and all its frankincense, and put this memorial portion on the altar. It is a sacrifice, a pleasing smell to the Lord. 3 What is left of the sacrifice belongs to Aaron and his sons — a most holy portion out of the sacrifices of the Lord.

Baked, Fried, and Grilled

4 If what you bring as a gift is a sacrifice baked in an oven, a gift to the Lord out of fine flour, it is to be loaves without yeast kneaded with oil, and thin cakes without yeast brushed with oil. 5 If your gift is a sacrifice from the griddle, it is fine flour kneaded with oil, and it is to be without yeast. 6 You are to break it into pieces and pour oil over it. It is a sacrifice to the Lord. 7 If your gift is a sacrifice from the hearth, it is to be made of fine flour with oil.

8 He is to bring to the Lord the sacrifice he makes out of any of these. He is to bring it to the priest, and the priest is to come near the altar 9 and take from the sacrifice its memorial portion, and the priest is to put it on the altar. It is an altar offering, a pleasing smell to the Lord. 10 What is left of the sacrifice belongs to Aaron and his sons — most holy, out of the altar offerings of the Lord.

No Yeast, No Honey, Always Salt

11 You are not to make anything leavened out of any sacrifice you bring to the Lord, for you are to bring none of any yeast and none of any honey as an altar offering to the Lord. 12 You may bring these to the Lord as a gift of firstfruits, but they are not to go up on the altar for a pleasing smell to the Lord. 13 Every gift of your sacrifice is to be salted with salt. Never leave the salt of the covenant of the Lord out of your sacrifices; with every gift of yours you are to bring salt to the Lord your God.

The First of the Harvest

14 If you bring a sacrifice of the first of the harvest to the Lord, it is to be new grain, roasted and crushed, for the Lord; that is how you are to bring the sacrifice of the first of the harvest. 15 You are to pour oil on it and put frankincense on it. It is a sacrifice. 16 The priest is to bring up its memorial portion from the crushed grain, with the oil and all its frankincense. It is an altar offering to the Lord.”
