Exodus 38

The Ark, the Table, and the Lampstand Made

1 And Bezalel made the ark, 2 and overlaid it with pure gold inside and out. 3 And he cast four gold rings for it, two on the one side and two on the other, 4 wide enough for the carrying poles, to carry it by them. 5 And he made the place of atonement of gold, above the ark, 6 and the two cherubim of gold — 7 one cherub at the one end of the place of atonement and one cherub at the other end of the place of atonement, 8 shadowing the place of atonement with their wings. 9 And he made the table that is set out, of pure gold, 10 and cast four rings for it, two on the one side and two on the other, wide enough for carrying by the poles. 11 And he made the poles for the ark and for the table, and overlaid them with gold. 12 And he made the tools of the table — its dishes and its incense pans and its cups and its bowls for pouring the drink offerings — of gold. 13 And he made the lampstand that gives light, of gold: its stem solid, 14 with the branches out of both its sides; 15 out of its branches the buds standing out, three from the one side and three from the other, matched to one another; 16 and their lamp-holders, at the tips, shaped like little nuts out of them, with the sockets out of them so the lamps could sit on them, and the seventh socket at the very top of the lamp-holder — all of it solid, all of gold; 17 and its seven lamps of gold on it, and its tongs of gold, and its oil-pitchers of gold.

The Metalwork of the Whole Tent

18 He it was who silvered the posts, and cast the gold rings for each post, and gilded the bars with gold, and overlaid the posts of the veil with gold, and made the hooks of gold. 19 He made the clasps of the tent of gold, and the clasps of the court, and clasps of bronze for spreading the outer covering above. 20 He cast the silver tops for the tent, and the bronze tops for the door of the tent and for the gate of the court, and made silver hooks for the posts — he it was who silvered them. 21 He made the pegs of the tent and the pegs of the court, of bronze. 22 He made the bronze altar out of the bronze fire-pans that had belonged to the men who rose in rebellion with the company of Korah. 23 He made all the tools of the altar — its fire-pan and its base and its bowls and its meat-hooks — of bronze. 24 He made the fitted grate for the altar, a work of net, below its fire-pan, under it, reaching halfway up; and he set four bronze rings on the four sides of the altar’s grate, wide enough for the bars, to carry the altar by them. 25 He made the holy anointing oil, and the blending of the incense — the pure work of a perfumer. 26 He made the bronze basin, with its bronze base, out of the mirrors of the women who fasted — the women who fasted by the doors of the tent of witness, on the day it was set up. 27 And he made the basin so that Moses and Aaron and his sons could wash their hands and their feet from it: whenever they went into the tent of witness, or whenever they came up to the altar to do the work of the service, they washed from it — just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
