Exodus 35

The Sabbath First

1 And Moses assembled the whole gathering of the children of Israel and said to them, “These are the words the Lord has spoken, for you to do them. 2 Six days you are to do work, but on the seventh day is a stop — holy, a Sabbath, a rest for the Lord. Everyone who does work on it, let him die. 3 You are not to light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day. I am the Lord.”

The Willing-Hearted Bring the Offering

4 And Moses spoke to the whole gathering of the children of Israel: “This is the word the Lord has ordered: 5 Take from among yourselves a portion set apart for the Lord. Everyone whose heart consents will bring the firstfruits for the Lord — gold, silver, bronze, 6 blue, purple, twice-dyed spun scarlet, and fine twisted linen, and goats’ hair, 7 and rams’ skins dyed red, and blue skins, and wood that does not rot, 8 and carnelian stones, and stones for the engraving, for the shoulder-piece and the full-length robe. 9 And let every wise-hearted man among you come and make everything the Lord has commanded: 10 the tent, with its hangings and its coverings and its fittings and its bars and its posts; 11 and the ark of the witness, with its poles and its place of atonement, and the veil; 12 and the hangings of the court, with its posts; 13 and the emerald stones; 14 and the incense and the anointing oil; 15 and the table and all its tools; 16 and the lampstand for the light and all its tools; 17 and the altar and all its tools; 18 and the holy garments of Aaron the priest, and the garments in which they will do the work of the service; 19 and the tunics of priesthood for the sons of Aaron, and the anointing oil, and the blended incense.”

20 And the whole gathering of the children of Israel went out from Moses. 21 And they brought — each one whose heart carried him, and everyone whose spirit consented — they brought a portion set apart for the Lord, for all the works of the tent of witness, and for all its service, and for all the garments of the sanctuary. 22 And the men brought, from the women — everyone whose mind consented brought seal-rings and earrings and finger-rings and hair-clasps and bracelets, every article of gold; all of them brought their set-apart gifts of gold to the Lord. 23 And everyone with whom fine linen was found, and blue skins, and rams’ skins dyed red, brought them. 24 And everyone setting apart a portion of silver or bronze brought it as the portion for the Lord; and those with whom wood that does not rot was found brought it, for all the works of the building. 25 And every woman wise in mind, skilled at spinning with her hands, brought what she had spun — the blue and the purple and the scarlet and the fine linen; 26 and all the women whose hearts consented, in their wisdom, spun the goats’ hair. 27 And the leaders brought the emerald stones, and the stones for the setting, for the shoulder-piece and the oracle-piece, 28 and the blends — for the anointing oil, and for the compounding of the incense. 29 Every man and woman whose mind carried them to come in and do all the work that the Lord had ordered done through Moses — the children of Israel brought it: a portion set apart for the Lord.

“God Has Called Bezalel by Name”

30 And Moses said to the children of Israel, “Look — God has called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 31 and has filled him with a divine spirit of wisdom and understanding and knowledge of everything — 32 to be master-builder in all the works of building: to work the gold and the silver and the bronze, 33 and to cut stone, and to work the wood, and to work at every work of wisdom. 34 And God has given it to him to teach others, too — to him, and to Eliab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 He has filled them with wisdom and understanding of mind, to grasp it all: to do the works of the sanctuary, and to weave the woven work and the embroidery in scarlet and fine linen — to do every work of building and fine design.”
