Exodus
Exodus 25
An Offering for the Sanctuary
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses: 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and take firstfruits for me from everyone whose heart moves him to give; you are to receive my firstfruits. 3 And this is the firstfruits offering you are to take from them: gold and silver and bronze, 4 and blue and purple and twice-dyed scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen, and goats’ hair, 5 and rams’ skins dyed red, and blue skins, and wood that does not rot, 6 and oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the blending of the incense, 7 and carnelian stones, and stones for the engraving, for the shoulder-piece and the full-length robe. 8 And you are to make me a sanctuary, and I will appear among you. 9 And you are to make it for me by everything I show you on the mountain — the model of the tent and the model of all its furnishings. That is how you are to make it.
The Ark of the Witness
10 And you are to make an ark of the witness out of wood that does not rot: forty-five inches long, twenty-seven inches wide, and twenty-seven inches high. 11 And you are to overlay it with pure gold — gild it inside and out — and make a twisted molding of gold for it all around. 12 And you are to hammer out four gold rings for it and fix them on its four sides, two rings on the one side and two rings on the other. 13 And you are to make poles of wood that does not rot and overlay them with gold, 14 and put the poles through the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark by them. 15 The poles are to stay in the rings of the ark, never moved. 16 And into the ark you are to put the witness pieces that I will give you. 17 And you are to make a place of atonement — a cover of pure gold, forty-five inches long and twenty-seven inches wide. 18 And you are to make two cherubim of hammered gold and set them at the two ends of the place of atonement: 19 one cherub made at this end and one cherub at the other end of the place of atonement. You are to make the two cherubim at its two ends. 20 The cherubim are to spread their wings upward, shadowing the place of atonement with their wings, their faces toward each other; the faces of the cherubim are to be turned toward the place of atonement. 21 And you are to set the place of atonement on top of the ark, and into the ark you are to put the witness pieces that I will give you. 22 And there I will make myself known to you, and I will speak with you from above the place of atonement, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the witness — everything I command you for the children of Israel.
The Table and the Lampstand
23 And you are to make a table of pure gold: three feet long, eighteen inches wide, and twenty-seven inches high. 24 And you are to make a twisted molding of gold for it all around, 25 and make a rim around it three inches deep, and a twisted molding for the rim all around. 26 And you are to make four gold rings and set the rings on the four corners at its feet, 27 under the rim; and the rings are to be holders for the poles, so the table can be carried by them. 28 And you are to make the poles of wood that does not rot and overlay them with pure gold, and the table is to be carried by them. 29 And you are to make its dishes and its incense pans and its bowls and its cups, for pouring the drink offerings; make them of pure gold. 30 And on the table you are to set the loaves of the presence, before me always. 31 And you are to make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand is to be of hammered work — its stem and its branches, its cups, its knobs, and its lilies all of one piece. 32 Six branches go out from its sides: three branches of the lampstand from the one side, and three branches of the lampstand from the other. 33 And three cups shaped like little almonds on each branch, with a knob and a lily — so for all six branches going out from the lampstand; 34 and on the lampstand itself, four cups shaped like little almonds, with the knobs and the lilies on each branch. 35 A knob under the first pair of branches from it, and a knob under the next four branches from it — so for the six branches going out from the lampstand. 36 The knobs and the branches are to be of one piece with it, the whole of it one hammered work of pure gold. 37 And you are to make its seven lamps, and set the lamps on it, and they will give light from the side that faces front. 38 And you are to make its oil-pitcher and its trays of pure gold. 39 All these furnishings together: seventy-five pounds of pure gold. 40 See that you make everything by the pattern shown to you on the mountain.”
