Exodus
Exodus 11
1 And the Lord said to Moses, “One more blow I will bring on Pharaoh and on Egypt, and after that he will send you out of here — and when he sends you out, he will throw you out with everything you have — throw you right out. 2 Speak quietly, then, in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask his neighbor and every woman her neighbor for articles of silver and gold and for clothing.” 3 And the Lord gave his people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians, and they lent to them. And the man Moses was very great in the eyes of the Egyptians and in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.
4 And Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: About midnight I am going out into the middle of Egypt, 5 and every firstborn in the land of Egypt will die — from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn of the servant girl at the millstone, and every firstborn of the cattle. 6 And there will be a great cry through all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been and such as there never will be again. 7 But among all the children of Israel not a dog will growl with its tongue — not at a man, not at an animal — so that you may know what a difference the Lord makes between the Egyptians and Israel. 8 And all these servants of yours will come down to me and bow to me and say, ‘Go out, you and all the people you lead’ — and after that I will go out.” And Moses went out from Pharaoh burning with anger. 9 And the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that I may multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.” 10 And Moses and Aaron did all these signs and wonders in the land of Egypt in front of Pharaoh. And the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was not willing to send the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
