1 And in those days, in one place, the fathers will be struck down together with their sons,
And brothers will fall in death, one with another,
Until the streams run with their blood.
2 For a man will not hold back his hand from killing his sons and his sons’ sons,
And the sinner will not hold back his hand from his honored brother:
From dawn until sunset they will kill one another.
3 And the horse will walk up to its chest in the blood of sinners,
And the chariot will be submerged to its height.
Guardians over the righteous
4 In those days the messengers will come down into the secret places
And gather together into one place all those who brought down sin,
And the Most High will rise up on that day of judgment
To execute great judgment among sinners.
5 And over all the righteous and holy he will appoint guardians from among the holy messengers
To guard them as the apple of an eye,
Until he makes an end of all wickedness and all sin,
And though the righteous sleep a long sleep, they have nothing to fear.
6 And then the children of the earth will see the wise in safety,
And will understand all the words of this book,
And will recognize that their riches will not be able to save them
In the overthrow of their sins.
Woe to you, sinners
7 Woe to you, sinners, on the day of great anguish,
You who afflict the righteous and burn them with fire:
You will be repaid according to your works.
8 Woe to you, you stubborn of heart,
Who keep watch in order to devise wickedness:
Therefore fear will come upon you
And there will be no one to help you.
9 Woe to you, you sinners, because of the words of your mouth,
And because of the deeds of your hands, which your godlessness has done,
In blazing flames burning worse than fire you will burn.
The witnesses called against you
10 And now know that he will inquire of the messengers in heaven about your deeds, and of the sun and of the moon and of the stars about your sins, because on the earth you execute judgment on the righteous. 11 And he will summon every cloud and mist and dew and rain to testify against you; for they will all be kept back from descending on you because of you, and they will be mindful of your sins. 12 And now give presents to the rain, so that it will not be kept from descending on you, nor the dew either, when it has received gold and silver from you so that it may come down. 13 When the hoarfrost and the snow with their cold, and all the snowstorms with all their plagues, fall upon you, in those days you will not be able to stand before them.
