2 John 1

1 The elder, to a chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth — and not I alone but also all who have come to know the truth — [a] 2 because of the truth that remains in us, and it will be with us forever. 3 Favor, mercy, peace will be with us from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ the Son of the Father, in truth and love. [b]

4 I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, just as we received a command from the Father. [c] 5 And now I ask you, lady — not as writing a new command to you, but the one we have had from the beginning — that we love one another. [d] 6 And this is love: that we walk according to his commands. This is the command, just as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it. [e]

7 Because many deceivers went out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. [f] 8 Watch yourselves, so that you do not lose what we worked for, but may receive back a full reward. [g] 9 Everyone who runs ahead and does not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have God; the one who remains in the teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son. [h] 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into a house, and do not say greetings to him; [i] 11 for the one who says greetings to him shares in his evil works. †

12 Having many things to write to you, I did not want to with papyrus and ink; but I hope to come to you and to speak mouth to mouth, so that your joy may be made full. [j] 13 The children of your chosen sister greet you. [k]
